Data Deletion Instructions

You can delete the personal data associated with your My Daily Dad Joke account at any time. This is the public deletion page for users and for Meta / WhatsApp app review. We offer two methods:
Option 1 - Delete via WhatsApp
- Open WhatsApp and find your chat with My Daily Dad Joke.
- Send the message: CLOSE MY ACCOUNT
- You will receive a confirmation prompt. Reply with: DELETE FOREVER
- You will receive a final confirmation. All data associated with your phone number — including your joke history, reactions, taste profile, and referral links — is deleted from the active service database within 24 hours.
Note: if you just want to pause jokes without deleting your data, send STOP instead. You can resume at any time by messaging us again.
If you cannot access WhatsApp
Email dad@mydailyjoke.dad with the subject Data deletion help. We can only delete an account after verifying control of the WhatsApp phone number connected to it, which may require confirmation through WhatsApp.
What gets deleted
- Your WhatsApp phone number delivery field and hashed account identifier
- All joke reactions (likes and dislikes)
- Your personal taste profile and embedding vector
- Your delivery queue and joke history
- WhatsApp delivery status records linked to your account
- Free-text feedback messages linked to your account
- Any referral relationships linked to your account
- Pause, resume, and pending account-closure state
What may remain
- Backups, security logs, and infrastructure-provider logs until they expire or are overwritten under normal retention schedules.
- Support emails or legal records if we must keep them for security, fraud prevention, dispute handling, or legal compliance.
- Aggregated joke-classification statistics and account-unlinked sample text retained to improve the service. These records are not stored with your account identifier.
What we cannot delete from third parties
Messages sent through WhatsApp are also stored by Meta. To delete those from your WhatsApp account, follow WhatsApp's instructions for deleting messages.
